In 1985 the new Ferrari 328 was presented in Frankfurt, in conjunction with the Mondial 3.2. Both were derived from the 308, from which they took most of the components, but with an updated design and engine.
The 328 was produced in two versions the GTB and GTS. The first was a coupe version,
the second was a Targa type car, that is, with a removable central roof. The rather hard and angular lines of the 308 had been softened by the great Pininfarina, who had subjected the Ferrari 328 to a series of small but important updates. The front and rear volumes had more curvilinear profiles and both bumpers were in body color. The front light clusters and the radiator were reminiscent of the Ferrari Mondial 3.2, a model with which it shared the restyling project. In this way, Ferrari wanted to communicate a sort of family feeling by transmitting a homogeneous brand image. The front hood was very clean and elegant, also thanks to the removal of the air intakes positioned behind the retractable headlights and the central air intake in the same color as the bodywork. The interior of the Ferrari had also been almost totally updated. The upholstery, as well as the internal door panels and the opening handles, still had the essential and elegant aesthetic typical of the Ferrari style, despite having been modified in the design and positioning of the controls. The set-up included a large series of options such as metallic paint, leather interiors also on the dashboard and doors, air conditioning and Pirelli P7 tires. The engine was a naturally aspirated V8 with displacement that was increased to 3185cc and was mounted transversely as a block with the 5-speed transmission, all synchronized. The US market welcomed it with extreme enthusiasm, not only because it was the heir to the legendary 308 driven by Magnum PI, but also and above all because it could be found in the movie Beverly Hills Cop 2 driven by Eddy Murphy.
The magnificent example proposed by us at auction was registered for the first time in the USA in 1987. The car was completely restored about 15 years ago, today it is presented in a wonderful Rosso Corsa color (300/6), leather interior. original and preserved black color (easily detectable by the signs of wear visible on the driver's side fairing), inside there is also the leather-covered steering wheel, also original and preserved. The engine has been completely overhauled both in the electrical and mechanical components and today it sounds like a violin. The car is equipped with all its original documentation (service and use and maintenance booklets etc ...) This car is part of a beautiful collection of cars belonging to an Italian - American gentleman and will be auctioned at the Milan AutoClassica 2021 event. in extraordinary condition.
