The Ferrari 328 GTB is a very rare Ferrari. The total production was only 1,344. In 1986 only 373 left the factory in Maranello, thereby establishing that our car is essentially a fairly scarce commodity. The fact this Ferrari 328 GTB has a brilliant “Grigio Metalizzato” finish and wine red interior trim just go to make this an even rarer car. The manner in which this car has been documented and her condition make her unique. Starting at the beginning Mr Kalthoff ordered the beautifully decked out Ferrari 328 GTB from the Wendelstein Ferrari dealership in Germany on the 17th October 1985. He took ownership of the car on the 11th of April 1986. On the 5th August 1987, he sold the car to the first Dutch owner who was living in Germany at the time. As he was domiciliary in Germany he kept the German registration. This had the added benefit of reducing Dutch car tax when he eventually transferred to Dutch plates in 1990. He kept the car until 2014. The car was only used on sunny days during the summer. When not in use the car was kept in a heated garage and perfectly maintained. The car was sold on to the second Dutch owner. He actually did not use the car as he was on the lookout for a Ferrari 512 BBi. When he found one with us in 2019 we were able to sell the 328 GTB to the previous owner. When the car first arrived at the Gallery it was in a wonderful original condition. The previous owner knew the first Dutch owner well and was well acquainted with the car’s history. Despite looking for a Porsche 930 he decided to buy the Ferrari as he was well aware that there was no better 328 GTB around. As the car needed to be in perfect working order, the car had an extensive major service carried out by Kroymans. Already in great shape, the maintenance was mainly of a preventative nature ensuring the 328 GTB would always be ready to go. The distribution was fully replaced as were all fluids, the majority of the gaskets and bushes, the battery and four new tyres. All in all over

€10,000.- was invested in this Ferrari’s maintenance. If it was already good to start with, the eventual result is simply magnificent. The bodywork is in very good shape with nice and thin and correctly aligned panelwork. The observant Ferrari connoisseur will have noticed this 328 GTB has a 308 bonnet. The accompanying anecdote goes as follows: In 1985 the first owner ordered a Ferrari 308. When Ferrari subsequently unveiled the 328 GTB he knew he wanted both the 308 and 328. When shortly after the arrival of the 308 he got the new 328 GTB he preferred the 308’s bonnet and decided to fit the 328 GTB with a 308 bonnet. The bonnet has been on the car for over 30 years now and has become part of this Ferrari's special story. The paintwork is in excellent and undamaged condition. The car’s inside is as wonderful as the outside. The red carpets and leather upholstery are in very good condition. The instruments and controls are in perfect working order and appearance. The wheels and fibreglass elements are also in an excellent state. Mechanically after its maintenance is exactly as you would expect: perfect. The 328 GTB has a transverse placed 3.2-litre V8 engine developing 280 Ps through a manual 5-speed gearbox. It is no exaggeration to say this Ferrari drives as well as it did when it left the Wendelstein dealer forecourt in 1986. The engine is as healthy as could be and after a mere 60,000 km runs a treat. As important is the fact this car has retained its original, matching numbers, engine and is also a matching colours Ferrari 328 GTB. Finally, we come to the car’s documentation. Rarely do we see a car with such magnificent documentation. The records show the car has been perfectly looked after and that everything has been kept. It has the original car wallet complete with contents, the original order note, the invoice, the German “Fahrzeugbrief”, the first owners' photos from 1986, MOT’s, a workshop manual and a parts list. It is all there. How this car has been documented is in itself enough to elevate it above the competition. The fact that this is a European supplied, matching numbers and colours car with less than 60,000 km on the clock makes this Ferrari 328 GTB simply one of a kind.
