Description

250 GT Lusso #4971 was supplied in 1963 and is one of the 350 examples built by Ferrari SPA.

Originally delivered in Grigio Argento with Nero Pella hide and grigio carpets, #4971 was sold by SEFAC Ferrari S.p.A. in Modena to its first owner, Ms Anna Maria Molina, a 25-year-old resident of Varese.

Maintained by Ferrari's Assistenza Clienti in Modena for the next several years, Ms Molina subsequently sold the Lusso on to noted Ferrari dealer, historian, and author Rob De La Rive Box in Seon, Switzerland. He continued to have the car serviced by Ferrari in Modena until 1970 when he sold it to the next custodian, Mr Richard Merritt of the USA, another noted Ferrari author and historian who has written numerous books on the marque.

Three further owners are recorded in the US with the last American owner in possession of the car for 30 years in California, before it was acquired by its next owner from the UK in 2017. The owner then decided to give the car to a well known marque specialist for a body and trim restoration including bare metal repaint with particular care taken to ensure the panel gaps were perfect.

The car was then sold to its second UK owner, a well-known Ferrari collector who requested that Furlonger remove the engine, carry out an engine bay detail, a full service, new clutch and all new oil seals.

This example is especially desirable, not only due to its unquestionable condition, but with matching numbers and exceptional provenance, which is supported by an extensive history file containing old registration cards, California pink slip, original Automobile Club D'Italia identification paperwork and a meticulously assorted documented restoration.

An exquisite example finished in a desirable colour combination, complete with tool kit, jack, knock-off hammer and manual. The Lusso has also recently passed Classiche inspection.
