Description
Ferrari 250 GT Cabriolet Pininfarina Series II
Completed: 1962
Originally delivered: France
Original Colour: Azzurro Acrilico IT. 28288
Original Interior: Pelle Naturale VM 3218
The Ferrari 250 GT Cabriolet Series II has been sold by the factory through the French official importer Franco Brittanic to its first owner Philippe Andre located in
Paris. He kept his Ferrari until 1968 when it had been exported to the US finding a new owner with a resident of Danbury/CT/USA. In the early or mid eighties it was painted red and the interior changed from original naturale to black.
After 12 years of ownership it found a new home with Jim Francis of Roanoke/VA/USA. It changed hands a couple of times in the US until 1996 when it was bought by well-known Ferrari specialist Paul Koot of Ede in the Netherlands.
Up from 2005 it was owned by long-term keeper Christophe Graignic, resident in Meudon/France who took care of it the next 14 years. The archive file shows some invoices for servicing his beloved new purchase in the next few years. In 2012 Philippe decided to execute a complete engine rebuilt at the Atelier Harper, in 91310 Longpont Sur Orge which was invoiced at 41.000,- Euros. The engine rebuilt is as well documented with lots of detailed pictures when the engine had been completely dismantled.
In 2020 the Ferrari changed hands the last time. The new classic car enthusiast and very well-known new owner immediately started a complete nut and bolt restoration at one of the most famous restoration workshops in Italy. Bacchelli & Villa in Bastiglia (Mo) was entrusted to carry out the work necessary to receive the best result possible. Bacchelli & Villa have gained the reputation being one of the most trustful restoration companies in Italy. They are famous.
The restoration took more than two years. By this the whole car was completely dismantled. The amazing bodywork which was carried out is documented by hundreds of detailed pictures. After executing the bodywork it received a new paint job in its original delivery Colour Azzurro. The invoice only for the bodywork and paint job totaled at 161.000,- Euros.
Beside this it received as well a complete new interior, new dashboard, new carpets and new soft top in black. The interior including its newly in Azzurro painted dashboard are looking better than it had been delivered by Ferrari in 1962.
I would describe the cosmetics as in new condition.
Needless to say that it had been painted underneath flawlessly and the suspension and brakes were overhauled as well. It looks from underneath virtually like a new car.
The engine compartment had been painted and detailed in the same way as the bodywork and interior. It looks like a new car in flawless condition good enough to win any Concourse d'Elegance.
After its completion in 2023 this Ferrari 250 GT Cabriolet Series II shines like a new pearl in its original livery as delivered in 1962 by Ferrari to its first owner
Philippe Andre.
The whole restoration is documented by an enormous amount of detailed pictures of each step of the work carried out. The car is accompanied by a large file of invoices which are totaling at an amount of more than 420.000,- Euros or more than 480.000,- USD.
After its restoration it was granted by Ferrari in April 2023 with the Certificazione di autenticita/ Red Book confirming the exterior Colour as Azzurro and the interior
as Pelle Beige VM 3218. The engine, gearbox and differential has been confirmed as being the original units and as being full matching numbers.
What can we say more than this is the wonderful opportunity to purchase a completely and freshly restored Ferrari 250 GT Cabriolet Series II in one of the very best Colour combinations with only few test drives after its restoration and accompanied by its Ferrari Red Book confirming the originality of all components and being in flawless like new condition.
It will be more than difficult to find a better looking and better driving Ferrari 250 GT Cabriolet Series II in the market than our car on display.
I can only recommend to any serious enthusiast not to wait too long missing this rare opportunity.
