The Ferrari 208 GTB Turbo is little known outside of its native Italy as it was built specifically for the home market, where taxes on cars with engines larger than 2 litres were prohibitively expensive. It is identical in every respect to the 308 series but fitted with a smaller 1,991cc all alloy V8 engine, allowing it to escape the tax bracket whilst maintaining respectable performance. Fitted with a turbo unit supplied by KKK and coupled with the Bosh K-Jetronic fuel injection system it produced a healthy 220 Bhp at 7000 rpm, propelling the car to a top speed of 242 kph. Coinciding with the new 328 GTB and GTS models, the 208 was slightly uprated and received an Intercooler, now producing some healthy 254 hp – nearly identical to the normally aspirated stable mates.
