As confirmed by the archives of the Amicale Facel, this Excellence was delivered new on 16 January 1960 to the Los Angeles dealer, Peter Satori. It was black with bright red leather upholstery, green tinted windows and air conditioning. An automatic transmission, power steering and US-specific headlamps completed the package. The car was then registered in San Diego, California, in 1965 and retained this registration until 1990 when it is imported into France. It remained in Indre et Loire before being sold in 1999 at an auction to a professional who then sold it to a Parisian member of the Amicale Facel the same year. It was in 2001 that Alain Ragault became the owner and drove many kilometers in it: "I love it. The atmosphere of Excellence is wonderful. It represents the Glorious Thirties, a golden age when France was at its best". Restored respecting its original configuration, this Excellence still has its original TY7 engine and displays 45,774 miles on the odometer. An overhaul of the braking system is needed, as the wheels tend to lock. The mechanicals work satisfactorily, as does the gearbox. Capturing French know-how in high-end automobiles, the Excellence was a car for the giants of the world, and it is indeed a rare and enviable collectible.
