Ephemeral, but having made its mark, the d’Yrsan brand will have built more than 500 three-wheeled sports cars in just three years. Raymond de Siran de Cavannac is a manufacturer of Blackburne motor racing motorcycles and in the early 1920s wanted to build English style cyclecars. He wants to get closer to Sandford but without success, the hoped-for marriage fails. He started to design his first car by himself and in only three months he produced a machine inspired by the Sandfords. The engine is a Ruby, the suspension with independent wheels and a removable rear wheel (revolutionary). Siran will entrust the steering wheel to the pilot journalist René Krebs his car specially prepared to race in 1100 cc, in 1924. Krebs then wins the first place in Paris - Les Pyrénées - Paris and starts to make talk about this amazing brand. Marc Chauvière on the road to Arpajon south of Paris will be timed at 124.18 km/h while a Sandford will reach "only" 122 km/h. We are then in 1924 and Krebs enters with his D'Yrsan in England at the Brooklands race. About forty Morgan are at the start and the French driver wins the race! From then on, the British press became passionate about this unknown car. The English journalists discovered a car with incredible comfort for the time and capable of holding very high road speeds. The first appearance of a d'Yrsan during a British endurance race, the famous trials, was the London-Land's End. The 24-hour London-Edinburgh trial in pouring rain, where the solidity of the d'Yrsan could no longer be doubted, was rewarded with a gold medal in London. Mr Raymond de Siran added: "If the d'Yrsan was for me a financial disaster in sport and tourism, it was wonderful in the race! So I do not regret anything of these beautiful and ardent years and the enjoyment I experienced at their wheel! ».
The D'Yrsan DS cyclecar that we are presenting here is a racing model “course” with an astonishing history because it has been in the hands of the same owners since 1964. Mr. and Mrs. G bought the car at a coffee shop in the north of France. The car is in poor condition but is still running and seems to have lived a tumultuous life. The owner is then silent about its history, but it seems that it was her late father's car at the time. The D'Yrsan is blue and still has its original DS 1100 cc engine block n° 2519. The restoration is spread over 10 years, Mr and Mrs G being very busy with their activities. The car will be very often used for runs with friends in the north of France. The restoration being old, the car has a lovely patina but works perfectly. The mechanics were redone in the 90's in Rouen. Trying such a machine is a unique experience that every car lover must live! Very rare are the d'Yrsan for sale and according to some books and research only 533 cars were built, including 10 very sport, 490 very sport BS, 30 lowered DS and only 3 racing chassis. This is a unique chance to acquire a d'Yrsan, which is in good condition and perfectly conform to the original.
