Post-war Germany saw a flourish of coachbuilders and engineers that produced some beautiful cars. BMW developed a motorsport partnership with Veritas that led to entries in both Formula 1 and the Mille Miglia, which gave birth to the Dyna-Veritas, built to fund their racing efforts. Stylish yet economical, the two-cylinder, air-cooled engine from the Panhard Dyna was utilised in a front-engined, front-wheel-drive configuration.

Launched in 1950 at the Autosalon in Reutlingen, it was available as a coupe or convertible costing over DM 8,300. The two-door convertibles were produced by Baur coachbuilders in Stuttgart and boasted a captivating aerodynamic shape with excellent road holding. The steel bodywork on the box frame shows similarities with DKW, Porsche, and Volkswagen. Unfortunately, Volkswagen reduced the Beetle’s price to a level Veritas couldn’t match, and production ceased in 1952 after just 176 Dyna-Veritas had been made.

This charming example retains its original convertible coachwork and is a more potent ‘Sprint’ model, boasting a 745 cc engine, producing 38 bhp with a 120 km/h top speed, and is the rarest version of the surviving models. Finished in metallic green over tan leather, it has been sympathetically restored and retains many original features. For the last ten years, this car was on display in the Prototyp museum in Hamburg. Freshly serviced, this rare cabriolet is Mille Miglia eligible and ready to enjoy.

On vit émerger dans l'Allemagne de l'après-guerre de nombreux carrossiers et mécaniciens qui produisirent quelques belles voitures. Cette voiture, lancée au Salon de Reutlingen 1950, était disponible en coupé ou en cabriolet, pour plus de 8 300 DM. Les cabriolets deux-portes, produits à Stuttgart par la Carrosserie Baur, alliaient une aérodynamique impressionnante à une excellente tenue de route. Leur carrosserie acier montée sur un châssis caisson présentait des similitudes avec celle des DKW, des Porsche et des Volkswagen. Malheureusement, ce dernier abaissa le prix de sa Coccinelle à un niveau que Veritas ne pouvait pas suivre, et la production dut cesser en 1952, après que seules 176 Dyna-Veritas eurent été produites.

Ce ravissant exemplaire a toujours sa carrosserie cabriolet d'origine ; c'est un modèle Sprint, plus puissant, équipé d'un 745 cm3 délivrant 38 chevaux lui permettant d'atteindre les 120 km/h ; c'est la version la plus rare parmi les modèles survivants. Il est vert métallisé avec intérieur en cuir brun et a été agréablement restauré tout en conservant de nombreux équipements d'origine. Ces dix dernières années, il a été exposé au Prototyp museum de Hambourg.
