Description

Chassis No. 1D37263C0L0

Based on the Duesenberg Model J, a vehicle developed with the sole mission of producing the finest car in the world in terms of performance, style, and hand-built luxury, Elite Heritage Motors based in Elroy, Wisconsin would be able to carry on this mission with their painstakingly hand-crafted models built in the tradition of the former Duesenberg company while owning the same marque name. Crafting each example to the exacting specifications of their owners, the finished product was labeled to be "a modern classic Duesenberg with the timeless elegance of the 1930s combined with the convenience of a modern drivetrain and cleverly concealed comfort features." Built to a much higher quality than your typical reproduction car, these vehicles were true to scale examples built by hand using many of the same materials and techniques as the original cars giving them a near-identical appearance to an original with the added comfort and convenience from an updated drivetrain.

Offering a selection of body styles, the Duesenberg II could be ordered with iconic Murphy Roadster style coachwork, one of the most popular body styles ever fit to the original Duesenberg. With elegant lines achieved through the unique Disappearing Top convertible design, modern enhancements beginning with a Ford 5.8-liter V8 and three-speed automatic transmission they allow for easy operation and maintenance. In addition to its modern engine, power steering, power-assisted disc brakes, air-conditioning, and even power windows and seats, they provide a perfect blend of modern enhancements with the highly sought after Murphy Roadster design.

Finished in a stunning two-tone silver and white exterior with chrome wire wheels and supercharged style outside exhaust outlets, this 1987 Duesenberg II is displaying just 5,098 miles at the time of cataloging. As per the consignor, a serious collector who has owned numerous Duesenberg II examples, as well as the Volo Museum who hold the factory records, there were only seven examples produced with this Murphy Roadster style coachwork. Equipped with a rear folding luggage rack, rumble seat, and dual side-mounted matching spare wheels, this well-appointed example also includes an engine turned aluminum dashboard with large Duesenberg style gauges and leather upholstery. Combining the styling and build traditions from one of the finest American cars ever made, this attractive example is the perfect fit for any enthusiast looking to experience the thrill of owning a Duesenberg without spending the seven-figure sum typically required to place one in any great collection of American icons.
