Description
After its successful 1980s victories in international racing, Ducati celebrated by producing three special editions of their famed F1 model. The second of the three editions, the “Laguna Seca” was born in 1987, and named in honor of Marco Lucchinelli’s famous win at the 1986 Battle of the Twins at the Laguna Seca raceway.
Powered by a 748 cc desmodromic-valve engine that adopted the same bore as factory racers, the Laguna Seca produced 95 hp at a glorious 10,000 rpm. With aggressive cams, large inlet ports, and high-performance carburetors, it was truly a race bike for the road. The Laguna Seca was also fitted with indicators, a center stand, and a steel fuel tank which proudly featured a Marco Lucchinelli autograph decal. Its stopping power came from the impressive Brembo “Gold Series” four-piston calipers.
Purchased by Leo Schigiel in 2016, this low-mileage example appears in lovely condition today, displaying just over 10,200 miles when catalogued. With so few built, these special-edition 750 F1s are among the most desirable Ducatis of the modern era and they are one of the very last in a long and prestigious line of Ducati air-cooled race replicas. Offered from one of the most esteemed Italian motorcycle collections in the US, this Ducati is ready for its next fortunate owner.
