This striking 1961 Dodge Dart Phoenix D-500 Convertible Coupe features an excellent restoration, finished in black, which Dodge called “Midnight.” The paint is excellent, as is all the brightwork. The interior is done in red pleated vinyl and shows nicely. Matching red carpet covers the floor. A black vinyl top is fitted with a red vinyl boot cover.
The engine compartment houses a 330 bhp, 383 cu. in. V-8 engine featuring “Cross Ram” induction, it is very clean and correctly detailed. It has dual Carter four-barrel carburetors that are fitted with correct oval air cleaners. The wheels, with thin whitewall tires and Dodge wheel covers, complete the presentation of this stunning convertible. This exceptionally desirable example is one of only 68 built, and one of only six cars built with black exterior and red interior. To view this car and others currently consigned to this auction, please visit the RM website at rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/0520.
