Description

The Pantera debuted in Modena Italy in March 1970 and was presented to the public at the New York Motor Show a few weeks later. Lamborghini designer Gianpaolo Dallara was commissioned to design the chassis for the new mid-engined supercar. The stunning coupe bodywork was designed by Tom Tjaarda at styling house Carrozzeria Ghia. The Pantera is powered by Fords Cleveland engine, with the Pantera GTS using the most powerful 5.7 litre V8 derivative which produces 355bhp. This propels the car from 0-60mph in under 5 secs and onto a top speed of 174mph.

The 1979 De Tomaso Pantera GTS ‘Narrow Body’ offered here at Autostorico is finished in Black metallic with its original Black cloth interior. Having covered a mere 27366 kilometres this stunning example was supplied new via Sedax, the De Tomaso importer in France to its original owner Mr Pierre Maraval. He specified the car with the following options; central locking, Campagnolo wheels with Pirelli P7 tyres, Group 3 sports seats and most importantly should be derived without the GTS models characteristic wide wheel arches. Following Mr Maraval’s death the car ownership passed to his wife, with it later passing to their son in 1997 who exported the car to Illinois, USA.

The car remained in his ownership until 2014 when he sold the car to Claude Dubois a De Tomaso enthusiast and gentleman racer, who had known the car from its early days. The car remains in excellent condition both cosmetically and mechanically, with the car having just returned from a full recommissioning service and paintwork correction.

Offered for sale with a history file containing its original order and sales invoice, US tittle in the name of Philippe Maraval, confirmation of EU taxes being paid, numerous invoices and other related material.
