In September 1969, Ford and De Tomaso agreed to collaborate on a new model, and ended up launching the most successful Italian-American hybrid supercar ever built, the Pantera.

Assembled in July 1971, this De Tomaso was finished in Lime Green and delivered to Lee Douglass Lincoln-Mercury in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. In 1981, the Pantera was acquired by James LaBarr of Stuart, Florida, and he devotedly maintained the car for the next 35 years, at some point commissioning a high-quality refinish in the original factory color. Still featuring most of the original upholstery, as well as the matching-numbers engine, thisDe Tomaso is documented with a report from the respected Kevin Marti.

Showing approximately 12,000 miles from new, the Pantera has been ideally upgraded with a Holley carburetor and wider wheels from the GTS model, and it should appeal to any aficionado of muscle cars or Italian design.

The consignor purchased the Pantera in 2016 and delivered it to FastCars Ltd. for comprehensive refurbishment that included rebuilt suspension, brakes, carburetor, and cooling system. The engine was removed, serviced and detailed, and a new clutch, exhaust system, and half shafts were installed. New graphics were applied to the sides to accentuate the aggressive appearance of what is one of the most striking Panteras available in recent memory.
