The Model: The De-Tomaso Longchamp was developed from the four-door Deauville on a shorter wheelbase chassis. De-Tomaso’s long affinity for Ford V8 power continued with the Longchamp receiving a 351 Cleveland V8 that gave the Longchamp a 149 mph top speed. The proven independent front and rear coil spring and wishbone carried over from the Deauville. Stopping power came in the form of all-wheel vented disk brakes with the rear disks mounted inboard. While the exterior was angular, the interior was sumptuous with most surfaces generously covered in leather. The public first was the Longchamp at the 1972 Turin Motor Show. The name Longchamp pays tribute to a city near Alejandro De-Tomaso's Buenos Aires home. Longchamp production continued at a slow rate until 1989. The entire 17 year production produced only 395 of the striking GTS coupes.
The Car: This Longchamp GTS is extraordinarily well preserved in its original color of metallic brown with a spectacular ivory leather interior. The original owner selected numerous options including air conditioning, central locking and six-way electric seats. This Longchamp also features electric windows, power steering, power mirrors and a Momo tilt steering wheel. An AM/FM stereo with six disk changer are also included. The full suite of Veglia instruments serve as a constant reminder of the Italian lineage. A De-Tomaso factory certification validating chassis, engine and options accompanies this outstanding car. With so few cars available and a surging De-Tomaso market, this car represents a rare opportunity to collect a unique and appreciating Italian sporting coupe.
