At the 1950 Paris Motor Show, the DB stand hosted an elegant cabriolet bodied by Antem. The following year DB had an Antem cabriolet of the same type delivered to the French homologation authorities, the Mines. According to the excellent book by Alain Gaillard, Les automobiles de Charles Deutsch et René Bonnet 1932-1962, these chassis, which number around thirty, received chassis numbers from 751 to 782. The one on offer here, chassis n°768, is one of them. It is listed in the book as having been sold to José Emidio Da Silva and registered IE-17-74. This amateur driver then used it in the early 1950s in around ten, mainly national, events, starting with the Circuito de Vila do Conde on September 23, 1951. The little DB finished in an excellent fifth place. Da Silva also finished second in his class in the Portuguese Mountain Championship in 1952. In June 1953 on the Porto circuit, he was fourth, and won his category and, at the 12 Hours of Casablanca, on December 20, 1953, he came fourth, sharing the drive with a certain Pereira. After remaining for many years in a Portuguese collection under its original registration, it was restored and, in 2019, became a part of the Sáragga Collection auction, in Monteira. This Antem-bodied version is particularly rare and interesting, especially with its Portuguese racing history and its well-preserved condition. It is eligible for various leading historic events, such as Le Mans Classic.
