It was sold in Japan where its model name was Fairlady. This small two seater rwas built to compete with European cars like MG, Triumph, Fiat and Alfa Romeo. Production started in 1959 with a model codenamed S211. There were also several versions in the following years called SPL212 and SPL310. In January 1965 Datsun has introduced a brand new generation SPL311/SP311, where the letter „L” stood for LHD cars. Most of Datsun Roadsters were sold in Northern America and Japan.
