The Fairlady Datsun, with a top speed of 103 mph, was a popular competitor in the 1960s sports car market. This example is the desirable 1967.5 model, incorporating US-mandated safety features such as the dual master cylinder and an upgraded dash design with unique instruments.

When purchased by the current owner in 2013, the car was in largely original condition and an ideal candidate for restoration. The body was stripped and repainted in factory Silver Grey Metallic, the brightwork replated by Frankford Plating, and the interior and top renewed in complementary burgundy by Trim Specialties. Components were inspected and refurbished to original specifications, with the majority of NOS and replacement parts obtained from Datsun Parts in Los Angeles. The gauges were restored and calibrated and the original Hitachi carburetors rebuilt and flow-tested by ZTherapy. Meanwhile, the Roadster was upgraded with a five-speed gearbox, and the original 1,600 block received a Datsun two-liter crankshaft with connecting rods, producing a final displacement of around 2,200 cc. With special attention to the original appearance, the car went on to earn Junior and Senior Awards from the AACA, plus a National Award nomination. It also took Best in Show two years running at the Datsun regional meeting at Watkins Glen, New York. This desirable 1967.5 Datsun Roadster comes with restoration photos and receipts totaling more than $10,000 for the engine work. With only 2,300 miles on the restoration, it is well positioned for accolades at future events and enjoyment on the open road.
