Description

"First unveiled in October 1986, the XJ40 was an all-new redesign of the XJ series. It used the Jaguar independent rear suspension arrangement and featured several technological enhancements (such as an electronic instrument cluster). Initially, only two engines were offered across the XJ40 models: a 2.9 litre and a 3.6 litre version of the straight 6 unit. The nose of the car would accommodate either matched pairs of round headlights or rectangular single units; the latter were fitted to the higher-specification Sovereign and Daimler trim levels. The Sovereign model came equipped with significantly more features than the base XJ6. Included was air conditioning, headlamp washers, a six-speaker sound system, rear self-levelling suspension, anti-lock braking system and box inlaid burr walnut wood trim. This Daimler was registered new in 1991 and is presented in Kingfisher blue over magnolia leather interior. The Daimler has had just four previous owners from new with the current vendor acquiring the car in 2015. During his ownership, the car has been maintained by Les Pauls Jaguar specialists. Recently treated to an oil change the Daimler is offered with air conditioning, heated seats, and an electric sunroof. The Daimler would benefit from some cosmetic improvement in areas but is offered with a sizeable history file detailing previous maintenance work, various old MoT test certificates, the original handbook, the current MoT test certificate valid until July 2021, and the UK registration document.Interested parties should note that contrary to the catalogue description, this example is a standard Daimler (4 litre) and is not a long wheelbase model.
Interested parties should note that the private registration plate shown is to be retained by the vendor and a new, age-related registration issued instead."
