Conceived for competition in the heart of Milan, this Dagrada 750 Sport Barchetta was created in 1949 by the so-called “Wizard of Speed,” Angelo Dagrada. One of just three examples built, it is today the sole surviving car, constructed around a bespoke chassis, clothed in a lightweight aluminium “siluro” body, and powered by a Giannini G1 750 engine further refined with period modifications.
Initially campaigned as a works entry, the car was soon entrusted to Angelo Dagrada’s friend, Franco Bordoni-Bisleri, a distinguished sportsman and former fighter pilot. Under his direction, the Barchetta enjoyed an active and successful competition career throughout the early 1950s, securing 17 podium finishes and 11 victories, both in class and overall.
The car evolved continuously during its racing life, adapting to competition requirements with period modifications to its bodywork, lighting configuration, and aerodynamic elements. Originally presented unpainted and without badging, it was later finished in red and fitted with the ‘DAGRADA’ script, reflecting its development as a competitive machine.
At its core is an early Giannini G1 engine, derived from the Fiat 500 Topolino block and extensively reworked for performance, paired with a Siata cylinder head to improve airflow and combustion efficiency. Producing approximately 55 horsepower, the lightweight construction of the car allowed for an impressive power-to-weight ratio of around 6.2 kg/hp and a top speed nearing 160 km/h, remarkable figures for its class and period.
The car’s competition history began in 1949, including appearances at the Notturna all’Ippodromo di Mirafiori and the Susa–Moncenisio hill climb, before achieving victories later that season. In 1950, it was entered in the 1000 Miglia by Bordoni and Dagrada, demonstrating strong pace before retiring. The car remained active in competition until 1953, after which it was retained by Bordoni until 1962.
Its subsequent ownership includes several noted collectors, culminating in participation in modern 1000 Miglia reenactments. More recently, the car was exhibited at the FuoriConcorso “Velocissimo” edition in 2025 and featured by Petrolicious.
With its unique status as the sole surviving example, documented competition history, and continuous evolution in period, this Dagrada 750 Sport Barchetta represents an exceptionally rare and historically significant Italian competition car. It offers a compelling opportunity to acquire a true one-off race car.
