History: Cooper had won the formula one world championship in 1960 with the “low line” T53. Many racing customers had purchased the successful T53 to race in a variety of series. This car was sold to Arthur Owen (who later became a Cooper historian), he used it in major English Hillclimbs, winning the 1963 British Hillclimb Championship. The car is pictured in Doug Nye’s book on Cooper cars. It then sells to John Harper, Roger Sweet, Stephan Griswold, John Casado, James Stollenwerck, Tom Byrnes, Don Shoeny, and Jeff Abramson. It has raced in a variety of West Coast US historic races since the early 80’s to present, including the 2006 Monterey Historic Car Races where Cooper was the featured marque.

Documents: FIA HTP papers, logbook, paperwork between owners. Various magazine articles and numerous race prep receipts.

Of Note: Known ownership from new, in Doug Nye’s Cooper book. Excellent historic racing success. A very original car.
