Description

• Renovated and well-documented
• Spent its entire life in Sweden
• The lesser-known base model derivative of the famous DS
This 1968 Citroën ID19 Super Confort Finsion Administration is a well-documented and renovated example of one of the most iconic automobiles produced. It has covered an astonishing 350,000 kilometers during its 55 years on Swedish roads.
The ID19 was the iconic DS’ more affordable sibling. The model aimed to cater to a broader audience, especially in a country still recovering economically from World War II.
The ID was introduced in 1957 and was 25 percent cheaper than the famous DS. There were minor cosmetic differences, but mostly it was a matter of fewer power-assisted features and a less powerful engine. However, the ID.19 features the famous hydro-pneumatic suspension.
This specimen is in the shape of a Super Confort Finision Administration, which translates into a black body and roof (AC200), black quarter panels, often ordered for more formal use, and was available from 1956 to 1975. It was known more for its simplicity rather than luxury.
It was sold new to Bror Vinje of Kiruna in the far north of Sweden. At the beginning of the 1970s, it was sold to Olle Pudas, who kept it until the 1980s. The third owner, Kurt Heikkele, ran into trouble with the car, and as a result, it spent 13 years in a garage in Kiruna.
Kurt’s grandchild, Tim Andersson Rask, then took over the car. In 2014 it was put in storage in Umeå until 2018, when it made its way to Norrtälje, just north of Stockholm. In August 2018, it was completely overhauled, a process that took 20 months to complete.
In May 2020, it hit the road again, retaining its original interior after a complete cosmetic and mechanical renovation. The car has been thoroughly inspected by classic car specialist MOTIKON of Uppsala, Sweden.
This 1968 Citroën ID19 is a thoroughly renovated, well-documented example of a highly sought-after collectible. The original interior, statesmanlike specification, and lovely hydro-pneumatic suspension make it a must-have for the automotive Francophile.
