A work of gifted people, the DS had the difficult task of succeeding the Traction Avant in 1955. It struck the public with a new and striking line of modernism, a masterpiece of Flaminio Bertoni, it was also surprising in its technique and design: hydropneumatic suspension, power steering, disc brakes, semi-automatic gearbox to name but a few examples.
Twenty years of career and various models ranging from the elegant convertible to the utility station wagon version, she will also shine in competition by winning the Monte-Carlo Rally in 1958. A true myth and symbol of the French industrial genius of the time, the DS is one of the most collected cars in the world.
The DS presented here is a DS 21 version with mechanical gearbox. First put into circulation in September 1966, it is therefore a 1967 vintage. It is available in the desirable Palladium grey colour, AC 108 reference and has the beautiful brown leather interior. It was sold new in the south of France and only knew three owners. It was completely restored by a dealer in Toulouse 4 years ago. The base was very healthy and did not require any major bodywork. When the car was repaired, all the components were nevertheless dismantled and checked, repainted and treated against corrosion. The upholstery is also redone with new leather that retains the shape and appearance of the original one. When the mechanics were restarted, a 5-speed gearbox was installed. Very discreet and pleasant to drive. Nothing, to the naked eye, shows this slight sprain at the beginning that will delight the "great rollers". This charming DS 21 is indeed driven with softness and comfort. The engine develops its power well, the gearbox is pleasant and the brakes are very efficient. This is the opportunity to acquire a very beautiful DS 21 Pallas of the best vintage according to the connoisseurs and with a mechanical gearbox that is easy to maintain!
