Citroën DS 21 Pallas, 1967. Three owners, 17,712 km.

1955. Paris. The motor show. The sheet is pulled off the car and the assembled journalists briefly forget to breathe. Citroën unveils the DS, and France does collectively what the French do when something momentous happens: they philosophise. Roland Barthes even wrote an essay about it, comparing the thing to a Gothic cathedral, something that had dropped out of the sky from a civilisation one step ahead of us. And he was right. While the rest of the world was still floundering about with live axles and leaf springs, Citroën turned up with hydropneumatics, power steering, brakes that nearly catapulted you through the windscreen and a body that looked as though it had been shaped by the wind rather than at a drawing board.

The name itself is a joke of the highest order. DS, pronounced in French as 'Déesse'. Goddess. That's how modest they were over at Citroën. And you know the worst part? They were right.

Right, back to this particular Déesse. Because what stands before you isn't just any DS, but the Pallas version from 1967, with the 2175 cc DS 21 engine good for 98 bhp, mated to that characteristic semi-automatic in which the entire hydraulic system shifts gears for you. The Pallas was the top-of-the-range finish: extra chrome, the chromed Pallas trim strips all round, and inside the luxury you'd miss out on with an ordinary DS. In black, Noir, with leather upholstery. Stately as a funeral procession, but one everyone looks at with envy.

The story continues on our website, where the full file is kept as well. 100 photographs including the underside. The service history, scanned in full. Paint thickness measured panel by panel. The original factory brochure to page through. A timeline from 8 May 1967 to today, with every owner and the mileage year by year in a single graph.

Every car here follows the same route: first pre-market, then the showroom, and finally the online auction on our own website. What changes is the way you buy, not the location — once a car has arrived, it stays with us in Katwijk. This one is in the showroom and you are welcome to come and see it, no appointment needed. You buy it here at a fixed price: no bidding, no waiting. Our showroom in Katwijk, 30 km from Amsterdam Schiphol, is open Mon–Fri 9–18 and Sat 10–17. Call ahead and it will be standing ready, with someone free for you.

Within the EU no customs duty arises on this purchase. Registration tax and registration costs in your own country are not included. We supply the export documents and assist with the registration. The price shown is the full price for collection in Katwijk. We arrange insured door-to-door transport worldwide, cost quoted per destination beforehand.

Prefer a different colour or specification than this example? Tell us what you are looking for — another Citroën we can often find through our network of marque specialists and collectors, outside the listings. Have one of your own: we buy exceptional cars outright, classic or modern.

Our showroom measures 6,000 m², with over 150 cars under one roof. You are just as welcome if you are not buying — walk around, take your time and enjoy the cars; sharing the enthusiasm is half of it.
