A brilliant concept, the Citroën 2 CV is a simple and robust car that requires little maintenance. Its origin dates back to the 1930s when Pierre Jules Boulanger, the brand's engineer, launched a POS project: Toute Petite Voiture. The Second World War stopped the project and development did not resume until 1946 on the Ferté Vidame track. The rest we all know it, and after 42 years of career, the 2CV is still one of the most famous cars in the world today.
The copy we present is a 2CV6 Special Celestial Blue Special. Sold new in Saintes on June 8, 1990 by the Ardon garage, which was the first Citroën agency created in France in 1919. Our 2CV manufactured in May 1990 is one of the last models made. Its then 77-year-old buyer wanted to replace his former 2CV from 1976. When he died 6 years later, the car had only driven 5300 km. His widow will only use it very rarely, the last sticker stuck on the windshield is the one from 1998, the one from 1999 has never been stuck. It also accompanies the car's file in addition to the order form, the purchase invoice and the maintenance logbook. She was not put in a hangar until 2014 when she told her garage nephew that she wanted to sell it. It is one of his customers, a collector of 2CV, who will then acquire it. The new owner prefers to keep the car in its original condition due to its low mileage. It only carries out the operations necessary for the passing of the roadworthiness tests in 2017 and 2019. Apart from a few trips for "deuchist" rallies, still on a trailer, his counter only moved forward by 326 km and now shows 5626 km. This copy with its documented history and very low mileage has caught our attention, no doubt that it will convince collectors at the time of the auction.
This car will be sold by auction by AGUTTES Auction House, in La Ferté-Vidame, at the Citroën Centenary, France, on July the 21th, 2019.
