Over the course of its long career, the legendary 2CV will be equipped with different types of suspension, until it adopts an amazing spring system for only a few months. This real rolling prototype will only be produced on the 1955 model year.
The car presented here is an authentic barn exit, with all the charm that goes with it. Through a friend, the current owner discovers this charming 2 CV then asleep in a barn at the end of the Touraine countryside. It had been asleep since 1979 and was kept dry and well protected. From 1955 to 1964 it belonged to a private individual from the Orleans region. Then from 1964 to 1979 to an agricultural machinery mechanic Mr. Besnard. Careful with his machine, a moving little logbook was found in the car, with all the annotations of maintenance or replacement of spare parts. It was exhumed in 2015 and left the small village of Orbigny near Tours to be repaired by Mr L. Fortunately the base is very healthy and requires no welding or restoration. The engine was not seized but it was deculped and new piston shirts will allow this charming little car to get back on the road. The brakes are also replaced. The general aspect of the car is deliberately left like this, with its patina of time, it would be a shame to repaint it, it would then lose its stigmas and its history. According to its logbook, the car has just under 30,000 km to date. During the test, the little Citroën showed itself in great shape and underneath this magnificent barn exit look is a brand new engine ready to take the walk.
