Is that such a special thing? Yes, in the 1930s this was the first production car to have it.

The Traction Avant is an iconic car that everyone knows from television. One example is TinTin, or many famous war movies. The car lasted a whopping 23 years. Its predecessor, the Rosalie, was a true pre-war. The successor to the Traction was the DS, which already reveals more of the contours of a modern car. Think then how long this car remained competitive in the car market. Too bad André Citroën only got to see it go live. He died in 1935.

André Citroën was seen as the European counterpart to Henry Ford, where he came up with assembly line production, warranty on cars and day care for children of employees. A visionary who also loved the flamboyant lifestyle. He gambled with celebrities, and after the 1934 bankruptcy, André remained only the brainchild of the Citroën Traction Avant. Michelin took over the helm. Mr. Citroën will always be remembered as a man with a manual, who thought up ingenious things. The panache of the time and his ideas are reflected in the greatness of the Avant in automotive history.

Our Citroën Traction Avant is a special one, namely the 6 cylinder version. This car was delivered to the mayor of Evreux. A mayor ordered a car of course full option, that means two carburetors, and for example mechanisms under the car for changing a wheel without a jack. The car also has a nice quillery steering wheel and an air horn horn. The current owner is the third, and has been the owner of this classic for 25 years. Now she is looking for and new one that will give her a fresh new look.

Der Traction Avant ist ein ikonisches Auto, das jeder aus dem Fernsehen kennt. Zum Beispiel aus TinTin oder aus vielen berühmten Kriegsfilmen. Das Auto hielt sich satte 23 Jahre. Sein Vorgänger, die Rosalie, war ein echter Vorkriegswagen. Der Nachfolger der Traction war die DS, die schon mehr die Konturen eines modernen Autos aufweist. Man bedenke, wie lange dieses Auto auf dem Automarkt konkurrenzfähig blieb. Schade, dass André Citroën es nur noch erleben konnte. Er starb im Jahr 1935.

Herr Citroën wird immer als ein Mann mit einem Handbuch in Erinnerung bleiben, der sich geniale Dinge ausdachte. Der Elan der damaligen Zeit und seine Ideen spiegeln sich in der Größe des Avant in der Automobilgeschichte wider.

Unser Citroën Traction Avant ist ein besonderes Exemplar, nämlich die 6-Zylinder-Version. Dieses Auto wurde an den Bürgermeister von Evreux geliefert. Ein Bürgermeister bestellte natürlich ein Auto mit voller Option, d.h. zwei Vergaser, und z.B. Mechanismen unter dem Auto, um ein Rad ohne Wagenheber zu wechseln. Das Auto hat auch ein schönes Quillery-Lenkrad und eine Lufthupe. Die jetzige Besitzerin ist die dritte und besitzt diesen Klassiker schon seit 25 Jahren. Jetzt ist sie auf der Suche nach und neue, die ihr einen frischen neuen Blick geben.
