Description
The Chrysler C-300 gave rise to the marque’s legendary Letter Series and is considered by many to be one of the very first American muscle cars. The first postwar production car to produce 300 hp, the C-300 took the automotive world by storm, winning 18 NASCAR races in 1955. Exclusive and expensive when new, with a base price of $4,109, only 1,725 C-300s were built. Automotive writer Tom McCahill tested one new and stated, “Here is the most powerful sedan in the world, and the fastest, teamed up with rock-crushing suspension and a competition engine.”
This Tango Red C-300 is exemplary in both condition and drivability, with modifications that were performed to enhance safety and reliability while retaining the car’s stock appearance. The classic 331 dual-quad Hemi V-8 is mated to a TorqueFlite three-speed automatic transmission. The addition of vintage Corvette front disc brakes, Koni adjustable shocks, a heavy-duty front stabilizer bar, electric fuel pump, and aircraft-style lap belts complete this C-300’s sporting persona.
A previous owner, former General Motors Vice Chairman Robert Lutz, exercised this powerful and elegant automobile to the fullest when he successfully drove it in the 1996 California Mille. The current owner states that the C-300 has been meticulously maintained in his formidable collection. This outstanding Chrysler offers an excellent opportunity to enjoy touring with confidence, comfort, and style.
