Description

1969 marked the last year of the iconic 427, with the 435 hp L71 being the hottest of the street-oriented big blocks, thanks to its tri-power carburetors, 11.0:1 compression ratio, solid lifters, and more aggressive camshaft. This particular Corvette is a magnificently original, award-winning example, which is extensively documented. Delivered new on December 2, 1968, by County Chevrolet in Media, Pennsylvania, this car is well optioned with the L71 427 engine, M21 close-ratio four-speed, hardtop, Posi-Traction, and F41 specialpurpose suspension. Its original owner was Edward Ahoranian, who retained it until 1996. During his time with the Roadster, the wheel trim rings and center caps were never installed and the car was never driven in the rain, or by anyone other than himself. A signed affidavit he added to the car’s file chronicles his obsessive ownership of this remarkable Corvette, which covered just 5,570 miles in his possession.

Its subsequent owners have continued to preserve this example, adding less than 1,000 miles since purchasing it. In October 2021, the car was shown at Bloomington Gold, where it was Gold Certified, in addition to achieving SURVIVOR, and more impressively, BENCHMARK status, which requires an originality level of more than 95%. This coveted award reflects the spectacular quality of this Corvette, which is further distinguished by its documentation, including detailed histories provided by its long-term owners, car shipper and original order forms, and Bill of Sale.
