Description

Of all Corvettes, and classic sports cars for that matter, the 1963 Corvette Sting Ray Coupe, with the one-year-only split rear window design, is a true must-have for every serious automobile collector and enthusiast. Part of Neil Peart’s “Silver Surfer” Collection, this highly desirable example is powered by the RPO (Regular Production Option) L76 327 cid V-8 engine, factory rated at 340 hp and second only to the exotic and expensive L84 fuel-injected unit, mated to a Muncie M20 four-speed manual gearbox. According to the NCRS shipping data report corresponding to this Corvette, it was completed on February 27, 1963, and delivered to Betts Chevrolet in Poquoson, Virginia, for eventual sale.

By the 2000s, this highly equipped 1963 Corvette Split-Window Coupe was under the care of Walter Abela of Michigan, who undertook a painstaking and detailed body-off-frame restoration during the mid-2000s. Dozens of parts receipts and work orders on file with the Corvette silently document the totality of its restoration, which included a full rebuild of the potent 340 hp RPO L76 engine. In September 2011, the Corvette was acquired by Neil Peart and has since been professionally maintained and serviced under his ownership. Strikingly finished in Sebring Silver over red vinyl upholstery, the Corvette is equipped with a AM radio and includes a roadside jack and car cover, plus a dossier containing restoration documents, technical information, the NCRS shipping data report, purchase paperwork, and a 1963 Corvette owner’s guide.
