In 1941, Cadillac debuted one of the most revered automobiles of the classic period, the Series 62. This example was shipped new to a dealer in Hartford on October 5, 1940. In 1997, the previous owner found it in a Seattle storage unit and embarked on a thorough and correct restoration. Beginning in 1998, the body was removed from the frame, the car disassembled, and every part – from major mechanical components to the smallest nut-and-bolt – was addressed.

While largely complete, Elliot Metal fabricated a number of pieces from scratch and Bob LeCoque supplied a replacement engine block after a repair patch in the original unit was uncovered. All trim pieces and brightwork were replated by MasterCraft Plating, while Daniel Switzler of Tacoma, Washington, was entrusted with the majority of the bodywork and paint, which is properly finished in lacquer and a correct 1941 shade called El Centro Green. Classic Interior Restorations of Seattle reupholstered the interior, and the convertible top was restored as well.

Throughout the process, the previous owner went to great lengths to source a number of hard-to-find original components. The revival of this Cadillac was an astounding labor of love and many of the impossible-to-restore pieces are in superb condition. Fitted with the desirable three-speed gearbox, this is a lovely example of one of the most elegant Cadillacs.
