Description
Magnificent 1932 Cadillac 370-B V12 Limousine.
Factory Fleetwood Seven-Passenger Limousine bodywork.
Older restoration.
Offered from the FM Collection.
This imposing 1932 Cadillac Model 370-B is, like most American cars of the era, identified by the engine number – in this case showing it was the 1,010th V12 built out of 1,740 examples in total. The car wears factory Seven-Passenger Limousine coachwork by Fleetwood, featuring a division and a pair of folding jump seats in the rear compartment and the body tag affixed to the firewall shows this was body number 9. Interestingly the tag also shows this body had originally been intended for a V16 Model 452 but was modified to suit the V12 chassis, a relatively common occurrence.
There are photos on file showing the Cadillac being delivered to the FM Collection ‘as found’ in 1997 and in various stages of restoration thereafter; the interior was completely stripped and reupholstered, using brown leather in the front compartment and cloth to the rear. Some rust repairs were carried out on the body before it was repainted in a lovely shade of dark blue, the roof panel re-covered and the chrome done. Following twenty years of storage, the Cadillac’s cosmetic condition remains strong although there is some tarnishing and pitting on the chrome, notably on the radiator shell. There is some micro-blistering on the paint along the passenger’s side but the blue duco is otherwise still presentable. The interior is generally in good order although there has been some damage from rodents in the rear compartment, particularly the jump seats which need re-trimming. We have been advised the Cadillac was in good running condition but the car evidently hasn’t been started for some time and will require mechanical recommissioning. A magnificent American classic, the V12 Cadillacs of the early 1930s offer remarkable value for money and would be a fabulous addition to any collection of pre-war machinery. Currently unregistered, the car will be sold with No Reserve.
