Description

Chassis No. P6258514

In 1965, Cadillac's long-running flagship, the Sixty Special, benefitted from a completely new model-specific body on an extended 133-inch wheelbase. The elegant shape was slightly wider and featured sharply defined lines, fashionable vertical headlights, a long artful hood, and subtle fins above the tail lights. The Fleetwood Brougham, previously available as a $194 option package on the Sixty Special, became its own model in 1966. Its smooth, 340-horsepower 429 cu-in 'OHV' V8 was further complemented by power steering and improvements in suspension, chassis, and acoustics to make for one of the most refined driving experiences offered by any manufacturer.

This luxurious Fleetwood Brougham presents in highly original and unrestored condition. On the exterior, extensive original sheet metal is largely free of any imperfections and the panels are straight and even. Its original Sable Black paintwork beautifully complements the sparkling chrome, glass, and brightwork, while the padded Black vinyl top is unique to the Brougham and in good order. As the range-topping model, the Brougham's interior rivaled the finest in the world. The seats are luxuriously upholstered in Beige Delmont cloth and adorned with delicate embroidered patterns on the seatbacks. The door panels boast chromed switches for the power windows, locks, and remote mirror accompanied by exquisitely finished genuine walnut trim and plush carpeting. Rear-seat passengers are treated to folding vanity trays, folding carpeted footrests, and swiveling reading lamps for ultimate comfort. Other original details on this nicely-specified example include automatic air conditioning, an AM/FM stereo, automatic level control, and steel wheels with full-diameter hubcaps and whitewall radial tires.

Showing just over 30,000 miles, the car has been driven sparingly since entering the Academy of Art University Museum collection in 2011. It is accompanied by its original Protect-O-Plate and warranty card, owner's manual, and Cadillac brochure. The Fleetwood Brougham is the perfect encapsulation of American automotive opulence and is ready to be appreciated on event fields and enjoyed for its remarkable originality.
