The sky was the limit in 1959, especially in America. The car was completely redesigned every year. Everything was possible and thus this Cadillac Sedan de Ville Flat Top was released. With its iconic 117-cm-high rear wings and a front grille inspired by ammunition. Inconceivable in this day and age, but in that era everything became more and more striking, larger, wider, more powerful and with more chrome than ever.

The Cadillac is equipped with a Hydra-matic 4-speed automatic transmission connected to a mighty and powerful V8 with a capacity of 389 Ci or 6.4 litres. The car starts well, drives well, shifts well through its gears and brakes well.

In 2012, the car underwent a full body-off restoration in the Netherlands, including technical restoration, bodywork as well as the interior. A lot was renewed at that time, including a lot of new chrome (expensive bumpers), upholstery and carpeting, but the matching V8 engine and gearbox were also overhauled. After that, the car was occasionally used for weddings and transporting Dutch VIPs. It was driven for about 8000 kilometres after this total restoration.

The Cadillac still looks breathtaking today. One flaw is that the gearbox does currently leak some oil at the bottom (see photos) but shifting gears is just excellent and reliable. The bodywork is still incredibly beautiful and was clearly restored professionally. The interior with its red/white finish and its many chrome accents also provides a lovely fifties look.

This edition is equipped with an even rarer flat-top roof and features panoramic tinted green windows all around. This classic car drives wonderfully as a vintage car.

In short: a very impressive and well-cared-for classic that drives excellently and is powerful. A car which will always provoke reactions, but which will also bring a smile to the face of the most avid car hater. Cars like this are no longer made.
