Description

This car was sold new in Paris and kept there until 2012, when I bought it.

The car is the charming “Sedanet” version (model 76S), a fastback coupé whose tapered rear part gives this beautiful American a sleek appearance. As a Roadmaster, it is equipped with the most advanced version of the inline eight-cylinder engine, which bears the flattering name of “Fireball”: at 5,257 cc, it delivers 145 hp and allows the car to reach over 150 km/h effortlessly. This engine is here combined with a three-speed manual gearbox.

It has had only three owners. The 35,000 km indicated by the odometer seem real, but it cannot be guaranteed. It is very well preserved, never restored, without rust; it is solid and has never suffered damage; it drives as if it were new.

The car is complete with original hubcaps and accessories, including its vintage radio with built-in dashboard speakers. The interior, in very well-preserved original condition, is of blue and red chequered fabric with yellow trimming and blue imitation leather; the light beige headliner is impeccable. The floor is covered with grey carpets at the rear and with rubber mats at the front. On the outside, the radiator grille is shielded by an extension of the Van Auken bumper, a prized accessory of the time. The numerous chrome-plated parts are in good condition, slightly speckled in some places, and the well-preserved body shows only a few minor flaws and paint chipping.

When it was new the car was outstanding, and it has been remarkably preserved for 74 years, until today.

Original paint, original interior, original chrome plating, original radio, original tyres, original service book. We are not exaggerating here if we talk about a “time-capsule”. Its robustness is impressive.

The mechanics has been recently checked by a specialised workshop, new fuel pump, new radiator, last major service carried out in June 2021. It drives as if it were new; a trip in this wonderful car is a true sensory experience for enthusiasts, as its ride is smooth and powerful at the same time.
