SALES INFORMATION
The story of this Borgward Isabella TS Coupe, which is in very special condition, reads like an exciting boys’ book. It starts when the car was one of the last to leave the factory in Bremen Germany in 1960. The financial situation at the factory was not going well at the time. They had a considerable overproduction which was difficult to sell. That was also the reason why this car was delivered to the first owner in 1963 by the company Durament Estrich in Vienna, Austria.

The car remained in Vienna until the early 70’s at the third owner who sold the car and it ended up in the USA. Here the car was found in the Arizona desert around 2014. The original Austrian registration certificate was still in the glove compartment… The man who found the car then decided to take the car home again and a thorough restoration of more than two years began.

A very special restoration, because the goal was to keep the car looking like it was found in the desert. And that has been very successful. We can say that the entire car has been restored underneath. So all sheet metal has been brought into perfect condition and preserved, the technique has been extensively overhauled, and a new interior has been installed. The Borgward really drives like new. And the nice thing is that no one expects that at first sight. The outside of the body was expertly treated and preserved so that the visible “rust” does not go further and the real “desert look” is preserved.

The car itself tells a beautiful and unique history and is always a nice item to talk about among many car enthusiasts. Who is not a professional, will think that he is looking at a car that needs to be restored, but the enthusiast and craftsman who looks a little further sees a largely restored Isabella in a unique condition. The original Austrian papers are of course still with the car, supplemented with an valuation report and many invoices of the restoration. The car is registered in the Netherlands since 2018 and is part of a collection of special cars. we are now asked to sell them. Het levensverhaal van deze in zeer bijzondere staat verkerende Borgward Isabella TS Coupe leest als een spannend jongensboek. Het begint wanneer de auto als een van de laatsten in 1960 de fabriekshallen in Bremen verlaat en het met de firma Borgward al niet goed meer ging. Ze zaten met een flinke overproductie die men slecht kon verkopen. Dat was ook de reden dat deze auto pas in 1963 door de firma Durament Estrich in het Oostenrijkse Wenen werd afgeleverd aan de eerste eigenaar.

Tot begin 70’er jaren bleef de auto in Wenen, tot de derde eigenaar de auto verkocht en deze in de USA terechtkwam. Hier werd de auto rond 2014 gevonden in de woestijn van Arizona. In het dashboardkastje lag nog het originele Oostenrijkse kentekenbewijs… Daarop werd door de vinder besloten de auto weer naar huis te halen en begon een ruim twee jaar durende en grondig uitgevoerde restauratie.

Wel een heel bijzondere restauratie, want het doel was de auto er uit te blijven laten zien zoals deze in de woestijn was gevonden. En dat is zeer goed gelukt. We kunnen zeggen dat de gehele auto onderhuids is gerestaureerd. Dus alle plaatwerk is in perfecte staat gebracht en geconserveerd, de techniek uitgebreid gereviseerd, en er werd een nieuw interieur gemonteerd. De Borgward rijdt dan ook werkelijk als nieuw. En het leuke is dat niemand dat bij de eerste aanblik verwacht. De buitenkant werd vakkundig behandeld en geconserveerd zodat de zichtbare “vliegroest” niet verder gaat en de echte “desert look” behouden blijft.

De auto zelf verteld dan ook een prachtige en unieke historie en is gespreksstof voor menig autoliefhebber. De leek zal denken met een te restaureren auto van doen te hebben, maar de liefhebber en vakman die iets verder kijkt ziet een grotendeels gerestaureerde Isabella in een unieke staat. De originele Oostenrijkse papieren zijn vanzelfsprekend nog steeds bij de auto, aangevuld met een taxatierapport en vele facturen van de restauratie. Sinds 2018 is de auto in Nederland geregistreerd en maakt deel uit van een collectie bijzondere auto’s die wij nu mogen verkopen. En omdat we van bijzondere auto’s houden, met liefst ook een bijzonder verhaal erachter, bieden we met groot plezier deze unieke Borgward Isabella TS Coupe aan.
