Description

One of less than 150 examples supplied to the UK market and one of the finest with just one careful owner from new. Finished in the stunning and rare colour combination of Topaz Blue with cream and black leather, the car has covered 19,000 miles from new with complete BMW service history and it remains in original and virtually as new condition in all respects.

Unusually this Z8 retains all of the originally supplied items unique to the Z8 model including hardtop with hardtop stand and cover with Z8 motif, leather Z8 badged key holders, all books in the correct Z8 leather folder, correct original BMW Z8 stereo incorporating phone connectivity and navigation and even the rarely seen original Z8 Motorola telephone in the centre console store.

The launch of the Z8 model created a great deal of interest for the motoring press and enthusiast alike, here was an exciting concept car that was actually going to be produced and what’s more it was to feature in the forthcoming James Bond film, The world is not enough with suave Bond, Pierce Brosnan, behind the wheel. Fortunately, our owner was a serial BMW buyer, his everyday car being the flagship 750i at the time, hence he more than qualified for Z8 ownership. He placed his order for the Z8 with his local BMW dealer, Murketts of Huntingdon, on the 26th of October 2000, this order is on file, and took delivery on the 30th March 2001 as confirmed in the original invoice also on file and by the supply stamp in the service book. The car was registered with a private number V8 VAS which remains with the car and a Tracker was fitted by the supplying dealer before delivery, again confirmed by invoice and certificate on file.

There is a very interesting article on file from the BMW Owners Club Magazine written in 2018 in their “Me and my car” section on this Z8 which neatly documents the life of the Z8 with its life-long owner. As it states, the Z8 was initially used regularly in summer with 15,000 of its now total 19,000 miles being clocked up in the first four years of ownership. This is borne out by the service stamps and invoices on file with the supplying dealer. Since 2015 the car has led a quiet life with just occasional summer use, servicing has been carried out by a different BMW dealer, Specialist Cars of Stevenage, this being the owner’s new local dealer following a house move. Last year a major service was completed and any items found wanting were attended to as detailed in the invoice on file.

This Z8 wants for nothing, it has clearly been very carefully looked after, stored in a dry garage and driven gently from new. It looks and drives with the freshness of a new example and comes with everything as detailed above and a documented history.
