Description

"The Z3 was the first modern mass-market roadster produced by BMW as well as the first new BMW model to be assembled in the United States. It was introduced as a 1996 model year vehicle, shortly after being featured in the James Bond movie 'Goldeneye'. While the film was number one at the box office, sales of the car peaked and it was sold out by the time the car was launched. The Z3 was designed by Joji Nagashima of the BMW design team and developed from the E36 platform of the 3-Series. The resulting platform is often referred to as the E36/7(roadster) or E36/8(coupé). When launched, only the 1.9 litre straight four engine was offered, but its 138bhp was not up to expectations. A 2.2 litre engine producing 168bhp was made available for the more enthusiastic driver and in 1997 a powerful six cylinder 2.8 litre engine producing 190bhp was an option; in 1998 the Z3M had a 3.2 litre engine offering more power. The M Coupé was voted by Top Gear magazine as one of 'the 149 Coolest Cars Ever'. In October 2001, the M Coupé reappeared with the new 3.2-litre S54 B32 engine from the E46 M3. It produces 321bhp at 7400rpm and 258lb/ft and is seen as the ultimate incarnation of the Z3 M with only 165 righthand examples produced. Presented in the very best colour combination of Estoril Blue with Blue/Black Nappa leather this stunning privately owned S54 Z3 M Coupé is difficult to fault. Subject to a recent service the car is accompanied by a very good history file including original book pack with service schedule. Our vendor, a BMW collector, purchased this in 2012 and has operated a no expense spared philosophy to ensure this example wanted for nothing resulting in a fantastically well-balanced car that drives as BMW intended it to. With the all important recalls completed and documented, and frequent oil changes regardless of infrequent use during his tenure the car also benefits from a recent new sump/oil pan and ancillaries. Described by the vendor as a solid 9/10 and priced very competitively, we expect this to be a very popular example and viewing is highly recommended. This is an ideal opportunity to own a car of which only 165 righthand drive examples were ever produced by BMW. A genuine classic here and now.

The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to Government guidelines throughout viewing and auction day."
