This significant factory-supported BMW was campaigned with great success in the BMW Motorrad BoxerCup series from 2002 through 2004. Hosted by BMW AG in partnership with Dorna Sports S.L., the series was comprised of 48 riders competing with race-modified four-stroke, boxer two-cylinder BMWs in support races alongside MotoGP and Superbike World Championships at premier international circuits.

The final 2004 season brought a fourth-place championship finish, with victories at both Sachsenring and Brno.
