When enthusiasts talk about the most iconic sports saloons and performance estates ever built, the name BMW comes up almost immediately. Since the 1970s, BMW has built an unrivalled reputation with the models from BMW M, the motorsport division responsible for some of the most legendary high-performance cars in the world.

The BMW M5 (E61) belongs without question to the absolute highlights of that history. The E60 Saloon and E61 Touring were produced between 2005 and 2010 and have remained unique to this very day. Where modern M5s rely on turbo technology, the E61 was powered by a pure naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V10 engine: a powerplant inspired directly by BMW's Formula 1 programme of that period.

With 507 hp, a maximum engine speed of no less than 8,250 rpm and a sensational soundtrack, the S85 V10 is one of the most extraordinary production engines BMW has ever developed. The combination of a high-revving V10, rear-wheel drive and the characterful SMG transmission turns every drive into a unique experience that is no longer being built today.

More exclusive still is the Touring version. The BMW M5 Touring E61 was produced in only limited numbers and has since grown into a genuine collector's car. It combines uncompromising performance with the practical usability of a spacious estate. It is precisely this combination that makes the E61 one of the most beloved modern classics in the BMW M world.
