Description

A fantastic late production example of the deservedly lauded E39 Series M5, in my opinion the closest to a four door 911 that anyone has got and still a rapid, enjoyable and capable car with 400 bhp from a normally aspirated V8 and six speed manual gearbox.

This example finished in Carbon Black with full black Nappa leather interior is well specified with electric glass sunroof, electric memory heated sports seats and steering column, Harmon Kardon sound with DSP and iPhone upgrade, rear blinds, parking sensors and xenon headlights. In addition this M5 was ordered when new with the expensive Schnitzer options of wheels, exhaust, short shift gear knob and handbrake.

It is in immaculate original condition throughout and has covered only 43,000 with a full BMW service history.

The car was supplied when new by BMW in Chelsea London, and was maintained by them for some years. Hairpin purchased the car in 2007 following a service at BMW in Denham. We sold the car quickly to a very loyal customer who has stored it with us to date. The M5 has always been kept in a dehumidified specialist storage facility.

In 2016 the owner thought he might use the M5 for the summer and so it was sent to Dick Lovett BMW in Swindon for a full inspection and service, any items found wanting were dealt with. In the event the car remained unused on that occasion.

In recent weeks a further inspection, service and new MOT have been completed again by Dick Lovett, and once again any items requiring attention were dealt with and hence it has a clean bill of health.

The M5 is now offered for sale and with a great specification, low mileage, full history and in great original order. It must be one of the finest examples of its type. I have recently driven it and can confirm that it remains fresh, tight and is still a fantastic drive, so much more fun and involving than the fast yet characterless breed of fast saloons that are on offer today. I am not alone in thinking that the E39 marks a high point in BMW build quality.
