- Superb Individual version
The first BMW M5 of the name, appeared in 1985 on the E28 generation. This one revolutionizes the world of sports cars by turning a standard sedan into a road monster capable of competing with some Porsche cars. Some 2,000 units were sold during a relatively short career. Already, Motorsport engineers were working on an evolution on the brand new E34 generation. Introduced in January 1988, the new BMW E34 will be a worldwide success and a 10-year career. The highly desirable M5 is the flagship of the range and develops 315 horsepower, it is unrivalled in the premium market for the world's fastest sedans. With a top speed of 250 km/h and then 280 km/h with the latest 3.8l version. Out of a total of 1.3 million E34 sold, 12,254 M5 were sold, including 891 in the Touring version. His career was divided into three major stages: the 315 hp 3.6 L model, the 3.8 L version from 1991 and the 340 hp 3.8 L EVO from May 1994. The M5 EVO is therefore the most desirable evolution as it is the last BMW to be equipped with the magnificent 6-cylinder M30 block derived from the sublime 2800 CS coupé. This latest version is extremely rare, which is explained by a high selling price of 605,000 francs (excluding options) in 1995!
The model we are interested in in these pages is therefore one of the last M5 EVOs manufactured since it was put into service on July 07, 1995, while production ceases a few days later. Specific to the EVO model, it is equipped with the new 6-speed Getrag gearbox, 18-inch wheels and huge 345 mm diameter compound disc brakes pinched by 4-piston calipers. Our M5 Touring was sold new in Germany (only two were sold new in France) and ordered in a special configuration: not content to be already very well equipped in the basic version, its owner had chosen for two-tone leather, the double sunroof, the M mirrors and the sublime colour available on order Individual "DaytonaViolet". The configuration of this sports family station wagon is truly exclusive. As its maintenance logbook shows, the car was regularly serviced in the BMW network in Germany and then in France when it was imported in 2008. Only driven by passionate and careful owners, aware of the rarity of such a car, everyone will maintain this Touring with no budget limit. Mr. G, the current owner will buy a set of new wheels in the BMW network before they are no longer available in the catalogue. In the list of new parts, we can add the huge disc brakes and pads as well as many cooling hoses. The complete car file is available: the original notebook, the purchase invoice, the user manual... all the accessories are also present such as the removable hitch in the trunk (original option), BMW tools, the telephone... On test the car proves to be incredibly versatile by accepting to be driven at a smooth pace as well as to cross untold speeds limit in complete safety on secondary roads. With a certified mileage of 162,000 km and an up-to-date blank roadworthiness test, this extremely rare M5 Touring represents a rare opportunity to acquire one of the Bavarian brand most beautiful and powerful estate cars.
This car will be sold by auction by AGUTTES Auction House, in Lyon, France, on November the 9th, 2019.
