At the conclusion of the 2016 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) season at Hockenheim, Team RMG driver Marco Wittmann secured his second drivers' championship in three years at the wheel of a BMW M4. To commemorate the achievement, BMW M GmbH created a limited run of M4s called the DTM Champion Edition, of which this example is one of only 200 produced.

Based on the capable M4 GTS, the DTM Champion Edition inherited the track-focused variant's mechanical foundation, including the uprated twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six that produces 500 PS and 600 Nm of torque. Orbit Grey lightweight alloy wheels shod in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires and M Carbon ceramic brakes provide the grip and stopping power to match its potent power output.

The DTM Champion Edition features revised carbon fiber aerodynamic components including a reworked front splitter with canards, new side skirts, rear diffuser, and a lower-profile rear wing. All examples are identically finished in Alpine White with BMW M heritage stripes adorning the roof, fenders, and sides. The cockpit is equipped with front bucket seats and a white rollover bar replacing the rear seats, and trimmed in Alcantara and Leather Merino upholstery with gray contrast stitching. Despite its track-focused intent, the car retains such amenities as air conditioning, auto-dimming mirrors, and the BMW Navigation Professional system.

Now offered with only 225 kilometers at cataloging, this 2017 BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition presents a unique way to celebrate BMW Motorsport's modern-era victories in the most renowned touring car championship.
