Description
- Part of The M Power Collection
- One of just 1,383 examples of BMW’s celebrated E46 M3 CSL
- Finished in Silver Grey Metallic over an Amaretta and Reflex cloth interior
- Retained by its original owner until January 2022; just two owners from new
The most performance-oriented version of the third generation M3 made its debut at the Geneva International Motor Show in March 2000, reprising the historic CSL—or Coupé Sport Leichtbau—moniker. Thanks to extensive use of carbon fibre, glass-reinforced plastic, and thinner-gauge glass, the CSL tipped the scales at 110 kilograms less than the standard E46 M3. Just 1,383 examples would emerge from the Regensburg factory between June and December of 2003.
This example was built on 1 July 2003, specified in Silver Grey Metallic over an Amaretta synthetic suede and Reflex cloth interior, complemented by the Shadow Line styling pack and clear indicator lenses. Living up to its Leichtbau name, it was additionally specified with no radio or Xenon headlights. The CSL was delivered via Auto-Baptist KG of Günzburg on 15 July 2003 and remained with its first owner until January 2022, when it was bought by the consigning seller. Invoices on file detail the replacement of the rear differential and driveshafts the following month.
The car is accompanied by a service book containing no fewer than 17 service stamps, the most recent issued on 16 March 2023. Meanwhile, correspondence with BMW confirms that the V-max limit was raised to 280 km/h prior to delivery.
This exciting sports coupé presents an unmissable opportunity to acquire a well-kept, low-owner example of a BMW’s seminal M3 CSL.To view this car and others currently consigned to this auction, please visit the RM website at rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/ve23.
