Presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1976, the brand new BMW type E24 is the work of Manfred Rennen inspired by the work of Paul Bracq. It is to the French designer that we owe this elegant yet sporty design characterized by the front grille nicknamed "shark nose". Once installed at the wheel, the driver will appreciate the ergonomics of the controls. With a simple and readable driver-oriented dashboard, as well as individual rear seats, this all-new BMW reinvents the pleasure of traveling comfortably for four in a coupé. On the mechanical side, the Bavarian car benefits from its launch of two engines, 3.0 liters and 3.3 liters. It was not until 1979 that the 2.8-liter in-line 6 cylinder engine developing 184 horsepower appeared, the engine with which the 6 series was produced the longest, until the end of 1987. Available in automatic transmission and manual, the latter is obviously the most desirable but also rarer on the market.

This BMW 628 CSI was delivered new in Paris in May 1988, as shown by its first registration 820 GWH 75 engraved on its windows. It is therefore one of the very last 628 CSI produced. It will change hands in 1998 then in 2002. Its new owner takes care of it, the car is well followed and technical checks are carried out regularly. He parted ways at the start of 2019 for the benefit of a passionate person who entrusts him to us today. This BMW 628 CSI comes to us in very good overall condition. Its original Malachitgrün metallic color combined with its hounds tooth fabric interior looks great on it. Like the corrosion-free body, the interior has been immaculately preserved. The 4 electric windows and the sunroof operate effortlessly, the original and complete toolbox is located in the trunk, like the medical kit housed in its compartment. Behind the wheel, handling of the 5-speed mechanical gearbox meets our expectations, the gears are linked and the revs are linear. The must-have BMW 6 in-line is a feast for the ears, and with just 181,300 kilometers on the clock, this 628 CSI deserves the care it has enjoyed for a long time to come.
