At the time of production, BMW stated that the new 325i Convertible was more than just a car - it symbolized the company's unwavering commitment to excellence as part of a lineage, traceable to decades of championship-winning race cars. The engineers who created this vehicle shared a passion for driving and an unyielding vision for what a convertible should be, and considering the needs of the era, utilized cutting-edge technology, creating a vehicle that handles and accelerates with the precision and spirit that BMW is renowned for.
This 1987 BMW 325i Cabriolet was ordered new in elegant Lachssilber-metallic (Salmon Silver Metallic) with a Black leather interior. Power is provided by a fuel-injected 2.5-liter inline six-cylinder engine, representing the largest and most potent six-cylinder engine offered in the E30. This engine is paired with a sought-after five-speed manual transmission. A well-optioned example, the car has power windows, headlight wipers, and heated sports seats. Destined for Sweden, research compiled under previous stewardship shows that the car cleared customs on 9 December 1986, arriving at the Bilhallen Stängnäs of Stockholm. It was subsequently sold to its first private owner on 28 January 1987. The car then passed to its next through three more Swedish private owners before being exported to Germany in 2018, where a manager at BMW owned it. The car was then marketed for sale through BMW Group Classic, where the current owner purchased it in late 2021 and imported it to the United Kingdom.
Furthering the appeal of this marvelously preserved Cabriolet is the addition of the Ferrita exhaust system and engine tuning that is said to have taken place in April 2002. Additional cosmetic improvements include the fitment of 15-inch BBS Style 5 "basketweave" wheels and an M Tech I steering wheel, with the original steering wheel accompanying the car, should the next owner wish to return it to a more original configuration. The current owner fitted a new soft top from BMW Group Classic and had it professionally installed on the car. Today, the odometer displays under 36,000 kilometers or the equivalent of just over 22,000 miles at the time of cataloging, representing a highly original example in stellar condition, surely to be welcomed into any collection in need of one of the finest examples of an E30 Convertible currently on offer.
