This classic car is for sale on Catawiki. To have more information or to place a bid click on the "BID NOW" button. .BMW started before the First World War as manufacturer of aircraft engines. In 1928 the German company built its first car: the Dixi, a licensed-built copy of the popular, but simply executed British Austin 7 Roadster. One of BMW's first own designs was in 1929 the 315, a derivative of the Austin 7.

The BMW 319, built in Eisenach from 1935-1937, was a more powerful version of the 315 and had a 1.9 liter, six-cylinder in-line engine. The capacity of 1911 cc produced 45 hp (33 kW) at 3750 rpm and a top speed of 71 mph (115 km / h). Suspension and brakes were the same as the 315's and all four wheels were equipped with drum brakes. Available body types were the Convertible, Tourer, Limousine and a convertible version of the Limousine. The sports version, with 55 hp, was the Roadster BMW 319/1.

Simply put, the attractive BMW 319 was one of the fastest European sports roadsters of its time. The car was truly a wolf in sheep's clothing and considerably faster than most of its direct competitors from Great Britain. The 319 can be considered as the ancestor of future BMW performances, the design was the basis for the famous 328, which in turn was a major influence on the development of the post-war 507.

This BMW 319 on offer has a beautiful and elegant Drauz body. Only 51 BMW 319 Drauz bodies were build. The car has been completely restored with every attention to detail, authenticity and originality. The automobile is thoroughly matching numbers; engine, gearbox and chassis have never been separated since manufacturing in 1935. The powerful and easy to drive BMW, benefits from a completlye overhauled engine, makes it an ideal car for classic car rallies. This well documented BMW is a great addition to any classic car collection, as a financial investment or to enjoy on classic car events and concours.
