Description

HISTORY:
BMW E21 was born in 1975 as a replacement to the successful model 2002 and stayed in production for eight years until 1983, when E30 was introduced. Main fathers of E21 are Paul Bracq and Wilhelm Hofmeister who did a great job in designing compact executive car with sporty feel. They also invented a unique cockpit design, with the center console angled towards the driver. This kind of interior design – convenient for driver – was then used by BMW for many years in different models.

At the beginning, E21 was sold as 316 with 1.6 litre engine, 318 (1.8) and 320 (2.0) – all these engines were of the M10 family. Few months after the release of E21 arrived 320i with injection system and 93kW.

With the last engine, E21 was described as “joy to drive”, although drivers who experienced the BMW 2002tii were still complaining about lack of power. Since E21 was an entry level BMW, the true car enthusiasts had to look for bigger and more powerful models such as E24 6 series or try to get one of the rare cars tuned by Hartge or Alpina, who offered E21 equipped with M30 engines and reaching over 150 kW.

Overall, more than 1,3 millions of E21 was sold worldwide between 1975 and 1983. Without any doubt, BMW E21 started successful career of BMW 3 series and opened the door to even greater success of its descendants.

SALES INFORMATION:
It’s 1979 and you remember it like it was yesterday that you were standing in front of the BMW showroom, with your nose to the window. Totally in love. Not with a girl from school, but totally in the mood of the 3 series BMW. Of course the one with a super-sounding six cylinder engine. Days went by trying to persuade your father to visit the BMW dealer. Weeks later you were very happy after your dad had bought an amazing 320/6 in the beautiful color Kashmir metallic with green trim. Long rides, fine holidays: the 320/6 recalls a happy childhood and the car never went out of your head.

It is 38 years later. You have a nice job or just saved some money. It is time to purchase that 320 you’ve been thinking about such a long time. Preferably one from 1979 and in any case with the smooth running six cylinder. Restoration is not an option. It takes too long and is always disappointing in terms of costs. For a topcar you like to spend some extra money if it is ” the real thing”. Knowing that prices for good ones are rising, it makes sense to not hold off the purchase.

We have that BMW for you! A splendid car from 1979 with the in line six cylinder carburetor engine. The first owner was a doctor from Belgium. Taste could not be denied to the doctor because he ordered the beautiful and chic color Kaschmir with a green cloth interior. He also ordered the following options: alloy wheels, fog lamps and rear fog light, tinted glass and a Bavaria S radio. Purchased at the BMW dealership in Sint-Truiden, he traded it in 2009 in at a Dutch Porsche dealership. The dealer kept the BMW in his private collection and has, according to a number of invoices, made some finishing touches.

In 2012 the BMW became the Dutch registration. Over the years some panels have been repainted, but never for reasons as rust or collisions; the car just had to remain in top condition. Rust is absolutely no item for this BMW because it has the benefits of a professional Dinitrol treatment.

In 2014 the BMW was sold to another collector in the same residence. This enthusiast also treated the car very well, drove a little, enjoyed the possession of it, and kept the car in excellent condition. Recently the owner decided some cars from his collection and we were lucky to buy some of them.

We did some finishing touches to keep the BMW in top condition. For example, the clutch cylinders and the totall exhaust system were replaced by, of course, original BMW parts. The documented mileage is now 102356 km.

This car is the best option after buying new. And as one can not turn back the hands of time, it is the only chance to buy an unrestored, low mileage, e21 BMW which is still as good as when it left the factory in Munich. A car can be restored to new if one has the budget, but one can not create originality.

Basically nothing stops you to fulfilled a long cherished wish to buy a BMW 320/6 like this one. It would be a pleasure to help you with that.
