Description
Guide price: £65000 - £75000.

Showing only 58,700 km. In private ownership since 1993

Only produced in late 1973 and 1974. Just 1,672 built and very few remain today.

Honest condition and original turbo unit included.

Topical, extremely rare, and offered at an attractive guide price.

The 2002 Turbo was launched at the 1973 Frankfurt Motorshow and was Europe's first turbocharged production car. With an output of 170bhp and 240Nm feet torque, it was the fastest BMW yet produced, pinching that mantle from the superb 2002 Tii. Only produced in late '73 and '74 there were just 1,672 built, all in left-hand drive and, sadly, very few survive today. Replaced in 1975 by the ubiquitous '3' series, it was the last model to be introduced by BMW whilst they were still regarded as a specialist low volume niche manufacturer.

This topical and rare, left-hand drive 2002 Turbo has been owned by our UK-based private vendor as part of his significant collection since 1993 and is showing only 58,700 km from new. Originally delivered new to Switzerland, our vendor reports the only modification to the car, whilst in his ownership, has been the fitting of a 'Turbo Technics' turbocharger due to the legendary 'turbo-lag' of the original unit. However, the original KKK turbo is included in the sale.

At the time of writing there do not appear to be any 2002 Turbos on the UK market today, which is not surprising given the recent surge in demand. Therefore this car, which is being offered for the first time in over two decades, at this guide price, seems like a very attractive proposition.
