One of BMW’s most respected models, the famed two-liter 2002 debuted in 1968. Sporting and tractable, it was built through 1976 and available in progressively faster specifications. Due to the model’s popularity, several other variants, including the Baur-designed Targa, were conceived.

Established in 1910, Karosserie Baur found success through a patented foldingtop mechanism that was installed on numerous luxury cars of the time and, by the 1930s, the company was constructing complete car bodies. Baur’s collaboration with BMW became legendary, beginning with the 1950s production of the BMW 501 and 502 convertibles, nicknamed the “Baroque Angels” for their curved and flowing lines. Further success and notoriety was achieved with the Baur-modified 1602/2002 cars that were sold exclusively outside the US, including the example offered here.

This brilliantly presented 2002 Targa by Baur is finished in dark green metallic paint, which works well with the dark removable roof panel and black canvas convertible top.
