Description

The BMW 1600-2 (the "-2" meaning "2-door") made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1966 and was sold through 1975.
Helmut Werner Bönsch, BMW's director of product planning, and Alex von Falkenhausen, designer of the M10 engine, each had a two-litre engine installed in a 1600-2 for their respective personal use. When they realized they had both made the same modification to their own cars, they prepared a joint proposal to BMW's board to manufacture a two-litre version of the 1600-2.
As per the larger coupe and 4-door sedan models, the 2.0 engine was sold in two states of tune: the base single-carburetor 2002 producing 99 bhp and the dual-carburetor high compression 2002 ti producing 118 bhp. The 2002 Tii used the fuel-injected 128 bhp engine which resulted in a top speed of 115 mph.
The BMW 2002 E10 Tii Evocation offered here at Autostorico is a 1972 registered example finished in White with Black interior trim. Having undergone a recent comprehensive restoration, this desirable early ‘Round Light’ E10 has been upgraded to Tii specification. This has included fitting the bhp boosting Tii “Kuglefisher’ fuel injection system to its 1995cc M10 engine. Documented works were carried out by BMW E10 specialist Jaymic of Aldborough in Norfolk. This included removing the engine and gearbox and stripping the whole body ready for several replacement new anodised panels required prior to a full re-spray, attention then passed to the mechanical components which had a full overhaul. A new stainless-steel exhaust system was fitted along with renewed 1970’s ATS 13” alloy wheels with new firestone tyres. Finished with period Marchal driving lamps this iconic 70s BMW is sure to turn heads.

Supplied with a history file including a current V5 registration certificate, numerous invoices and a photographic record of its restoration.
